FALL CHRYSANTHEMUMS

Chrysanthemums are the true stars of the autumn garden, with their brilliant colors enhancing your fall decorations or front porch display. With vibrant autumn colors, our locally grown mums bring warmth to your seasonal décor. Many of our varieties can even withstand Southern winters, adding lasting beauty to your space.

WHY I STARTED WITH MUMS

In 2018, I noticed that mums sold by retailers were getting smaller, were the same old limited colors, and more expensive. In 2019, I grew my first mums and carved out my niche market by doing the opposite. My business model is to grow larger than average mums, featuring new and exciting colors not typically found in the marketplace, and to offer them at an affordable price.

  • HOW ARE MUMS GROWN?

Many have asked how mums are grown. They are usually grown from cuttings and arrive as plugs. I took a photo of the size the mum plugs are when they are delivered which I typically schedule to arrive right before Memorial Day Weekend. It takes about 5 days for me to plant them by myself. Usually, I plant approximately 2700 mums in 2100 pots. They are grown right here on our farm, all summer long and each plant is cared for from planting to bloom by me, ensuring the highest quality and the healthiest plant possible.

  • MANY HELPING HANDS

I planted 900 mums the first year I began growing in 2019. As I expanded, filling the pots, laying irrigation lines, and laying the pots on the field became quite an undertaking. Since 2022, Jessamine County FFA has helped with this endeavor. The students need volunteer hours each year and I need the help, so it’s a win-win for us all. I am forever indebted to them for their help.

  • MUM CARE

I have been asked if I water these by hand. The short answer is no, because it would take me 6-8 hours per day to water each mum adequately. Watering takes place via irrigation devices we call ‘spiders’ which are attached to the supply lines. I run the water and fertilizer through these lines each day during growing season.
