Early January Snow and Ice

Early January Snow and Ice

There's nothing like a good snow to force one to stop what they're doing. We can gripe about snow interfering with our plans or we can lean in to the forced respite.

I have taken a photo every hour since the snow began and while we are cozy and warm inside, each time I step outside I hear the silence, save for the tiny snowflakes hitting the crunchy leaves on the ground- no cars, no trucks, no dogs barking, nor heavy equipment running in the background- it is so restorative.

If we have to have snow, I am thankful that there is no wind because it makes it immensely more enjoyable.

I have never been so thankful for a Gothic snow arch on my high tunnel in all my life. It is predicted we will get up to 10" of snow and up to 3/4" of ice.
